Doraine Bennett is a poet, author, and teacher whose work explores memory, grief, resilience, and the ways we make meaning from our lives. She is the author of more than thirty nonfiction books for young readers and In the Grip of the Ice, a novel in verse inspired by Ernest Shackleton’s Endurance expedition, published by Bandersnatch Books in 2026. Her poetry has appeared in a variety of publications.

A longtime writing and yoga teacher, Doraine is especially interested in the intersection of creativity, contemplation, and the stories we carry in our bodies. She leads writing workshops that invite people to discover and shape the stories of their own lives.

Originally from Georgia, Doraine now lives in Tucson, Arizona, where the mountains, changing sky, and stark beauty of the desert frequently find their way into her work.
