Leah Iannone received her MFA in poetry from The New School’s Creative Writing Program. She currently works as Assistant Dean of Academic Planning at The New School. Her work has appeared in Newsweek, 12th Street, The Best American Poetry Blog, Alimentum, Redheaded Stepchild, PAX Americana, Barrow Street, Psychic Meatloaf, and The Inquisitive Eater. She’s inspired by love, wit, music, random acts of kindness, and the absurdity of the human condition. She passionately loves the color pink, and passionately hates mayo, the devil’s condiment. She lives in Brooklyn, NY, but grew up in Sea Isle City, a small NJ beach town that still has her heart.

fantasies may vary
I’m fine being the damsel
do everything for me
go ahead
build me a fence
just shy of white
let me say things like damn it
more often, a lot even
and if I change my mind
about your mole
bear with me
I’ll change it back, in time
