Instead of kissing you
I went to the hospital
when the truth would have saved me
I lied
ghosts in every mirror swam and fluttered
I hid under your bed
roads and sidewalks sweltered, hot with curses
I walked my insomnia on a leash at midnight
in the morning you were pressed into my skin
I wore the red of your rosary
between my breasts.
