Susan Vespoli came from a line of unstoppable women. She’s traveled across the country on the back of a motorcycle in a hurricane, lived on Guam, camped for weeks in Denmark, and sold everything to go back to poetry school when she was in her 50s. She splits her time between Washington state and Arizona. Her work has been published in spots such as Nasty Women Poets: An Unapologetic Anthology of Subversive Verse, Mom Egg Review, Emrys Journal, Writing Bloody, New Verse News, and Pact Press. This is her second chapbook published by dancing girl press.

Argues
Watch me ignore he who argues.
Calm is my mantra, my anti ager.
Anger makes cortisol levels surge
turns teetotaler into booze user
or cookie snarfer, not sage
ways to douse rage.
No. I will take the sager
route. Don my piss gear
against the storm. Avoid ague
with Om as my ruse
breathe in and out sugar
to sweeten bitterness in he who argues.
