Household Economy
I used to afford postage stamps, parcel post, typewriter ribbons.
Now all the poems go: “I love you like a suffocating alcoholic loves a Saint Bernard: with a clawing motion and a shaky grasp.”
It’s a good dovetail. Other things with tails that I like: foxes, pterodactyls, ponies.
A safe place to rest a pen is on the cusp of derision. I call this one “parts of the tooth.”
