Steph J has spent a lot of her time looking down roads, paths, and trails from Northern Australia to downtown Miami, listening to different human and non-human languages. Those diverse landscapes and languages generate much of her writing. Land crab is Steph's first published poetry and collection.
"This dreamlike collection of prose poems explores the intersection of the natural and urban worlds: we see cows face-to-face with a Buick, night herons disturbed by drag races, and a land crab navigating a metallic cityscape. Steph writes evocatively of America, childhood and twilight, creating a series of stunningly surreal vignettes reminiscent of Lydia Davis."
