Mobile Home Molly

I don’t remember Molly
ever wearing stilettos—
just gravel and trailer park
under her heels.

With a mouth like a river
and cigarettes as oars—
Molly held a howling dog
back by its collar.

How her big orange bangs shook
like Elvis’s jailhouse. She might
have cheated casinos or played
a heck of a whore in a western.

She probably took nude photos—
we women from small towns
give things away for free.
