We Are Lost
We are lost. We are liars. We are a
Lot. We give hand over fist. We don’t know
Where anything is. We fall down drunk in
Front of the kids. We swing and miss. We are
Lost in slow light, the soft shadow of a
Fist. We sleep on post office steps and dream
Dark dreams. Lost as teeth and earrings. We sneeze
And pay in pennies. Our chromosomes sing,
“Feed.” We collude, call our crutch a sunbeam.
