THE DOG'S SNOWMAN
A dog loved a snowman. He hopped, pressed paws in snowman belly. He barked. The snowman listened. He peed, yellowing the hem of the snowman's robe.
One day, the snowman melted. The dog wasn't surprised. Each winter he loved in yellow, barked at a coal-eyed face. The snowman slouched, head tilted, sleepy, drunk. Eyes drifted: one to cypress, one to sidewalk. The dog watched his friend run. Ate the carrot nose.
