$7.00 Rogue Taxidermy II. Your heart is comprised of a handful of dirt, my throat is packed with sand. My claws match your saw-edged teeth and your beastly jaws, and you are masked with the severed head of a lioness. I wear a bear’s black hide, still warm from the kill. Despite this dark fur, your stare drags scars into the dried flesh on my bones. With my scale-thick neck and red-feathered crown, I’m a serpent with breasts, a duck-billed man-eating plant. And so we become these hybrid animals, horned and marble-eyed. Open-mouthed. |
