yesterday I fell and bludgeoned
both of my ankles into oblivion.
(first we remember our broken
bodies) (the breaking of something that feels like a body)
(this bread tastes like) (your broken body)
(like surfaced blood)
you’d run your fingers over the open lip of skin,
lay your mouth along the line of blue blood
airborne and black, draw a careful line up the length of my shin.
I’d give you a blood orange.
